— 1846 (13 Dec.) commercial entire letter from Valparaiso "via Batavia", additionally endorsed inside "per Christian 8th to Batavia", bearing "1/-" rate mark in bright red ink, a good strike of "Zee Brief/Franco" applied in Batavia and, on the reverse, boxed "singapore1 April/Paid" in red and Hong Kong type 9 c.d.s. (22.4); light folding crease does not detract from this fresh and fine entire. An early and unusual entire carried by a Danish Navy gunboat and from an unusual origin. Photo
