1904 Amban cover, with original contents, from Amban Tu Chang and Yu-Tai Tarfin and addressed to the King of Nepal. The letter reads, "To the King of Nepal, Prithwi Bir Bikram Shamsher Jang Bahadur Shah, written on the order of the Emperor of China, Tu Chang and Yu-Tai Tarin, Amban in Lhasa. I, Yu-Tai like to inform you that as of today, I have been appointed by the Emperor of China as Main Amban in Lhasa. Today, 26th day of the 12th month of the 29th year of Kwang Sui, I have received the red seal. I trust there will be good co-operation and hope that all of you are fine and in good health...". Notation on the reverse of the cover is a short summary of the letter. A few peripheral faults but the letter is fresh and fine. Photo
