New Zealand 1845-65, reverse dated 1860-1861 (Joseph Fox. Captn.-Of-The-Fore Top - H.M.S. Iris), suspension claw tightened, very fine

Approximately 72 New Zealand medals were awarded to H.M.S. Iris, 32 of which are recorded as known in Naval Medals 1857-1880, K. Douglas-Morris. Of this number 3 are recorded with the reverse 1860; 5 with undated reverses, and the rest with the 1860-1861 reverse.

Fox´s medal was issued 16.5.1873.

Joseph Fox, born Gosport, Hampshire, 1831; joined the Royal Navy as Boy Second Class, 1847; service included in H.M.S. Iris, January 1859-August 1861.
