Straits SettlementsEarly Letters and Handstamps1837 (18 Mar.) entire letter to London, marked "1oz" and "Via France", rated "4/4" and "1/1" (both deleted) and back to "4/4" and showing, on reverse, fine framed "pinang/post office" d.s. just crossed by arrival c.d.s. (30.8) and framed "india letter/falmouth", all struck in red. A very scarce and short-lived datestamp, used only from May 1836 to June 1837. Less than twelve examples recorded. Photo
