Great Britain1840 One Penny BlackPlate IIITE (constant variety), small to good margins, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on entire letter, dated 27 Aug. 1840, to the Isle of Man, with red "sevenoaks" double ring d.s. on the front, endorsed in red "Missent to Maidstone", on reverse Maidstone double ring d.s. (29.8); the entire letter with a small portion of the front missing and tastefully repaired, vertical filing fold clear of the adhesive, a striking and very rare cover. Photo
