Great Britain1840 One Penny BlackPlate IbPD (burr rub "ne" of "one" joined and recut side line at left), good to very large margins all round and showing a portion of the adjoining stamp at left, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on entire (flap at left missing) to Bishop Auckland, with undated "witton le wear" at left, endorsed "Recd 23 Aug/40" to the left of the adhesive; horizontal and vertical filing folds well clear of the adhesive, fine and scarce.
