1840 One Penny BlackPlate VIIICovers1840 (8 Nov.) stampless wrapper to Aulcester bearing manuscript "1" with "paid at/a//stratford" in oval in red in the top left corner, readdressed to Gray´s Inn, London, MF in an intense black shade (touched to very large margins) has been added and cancelled by deep red Maltese Cross, London arrival (9.11) alongside plus a faint strike of open-circle "farringdon" c.d.s. in red; the reverse with Stratford on Avon despatch c.d.s. partly overstruck by indistinct, undated Aulcester circle. There is a light horizontal filing crease which does not detract from this interesting redirected cover
