Hunan Province, 1941 Wheat and Rice Loan, a pair of bonds for 1 shi and 5 sheng, small format pieces with ornate borders, red with yellow underprint and mauve with blue-grey underprint, red ´chops´ in centre, with coupons, about extremely fine. (2) Estimate HK$ 1,500-2,000 An unusual pair which were apparently given in exchange for weights of wheat or rice. The coupons could be used to pay taxes. We can imagine that the loan was unpopular and may not have been widely issued.
