1834 5 Dollars, Plain 4. Near-Gem Details, Cleaned. The fields are beaming with luster and outside of several hair coils, the design is powerfully rendered on the planchet. As one would expect from the details grade, marks are nearly non-existent. Inspection yields minimal hairlining on the obverse and a noticeable wipe across the reverse. Even with the cleaning, this example maintains a fresh appearance and should realize far in excess of the typical cleaned example. A real numismatic tragedy as this half eagle would no doubt be among the finest existant for the date if it weren´t for the cleaning.
