Great Britain 1840 Mulready One Penny Letter Sheets A11, dated 1840 (8 May), the third day of use, addressed to Lowestoft, red Maltese Cross placed to the right of Britannia, very clear and crisp datestamp on reverse, opens well for display; endorsed in the message panel "Pray excuse the Queen´s shocking bad paper" as a very early demonstration of public displeasure with the Mulready design.
