Great Britain Postal History The following thirty-five lots comprise a recently discovered group of letters of complaint addressed to the Post Office. Unless otherwise specified they are the contents only 1837 (11 Dec.) from Rear-Admiral Henry Bourchier to Colonel William Maberley, regarding the Postman demanding payment for letters franked by members of Parliament, including a reference to Lord Lichfield (then Postmaster General) and endorsed Letters and conveyed from Bristol to Portishead by a regular p.post & under the act of Parliament authorising the establishment of such post, no letters whatever conveyed by them are exempt from the penny post, whether franked or not" Estimate £ 200-250
