Victoria Travelling Post Offices The Bendigo Line Using Numbers 3, 4 and 14 T.P.O. No. 3 1868 (21 Oct.) large part blue envelope to Prahan, bearing Laureated 2d. lilac cancelled with superb "t.p.o./3" in oval of bars and "up/travelling/post office/victoria/m.g.3." oval datestamp, the reverse with an equally fine strike of the oval d.s. and Melbourne c.d.s. (22.10) in blue; the envelope with a vertical crease well clear of the cancellations, and a little soiled though the earliest recorded date of these cancellations and the only recorded example of the oval of bars cancellation on cover. Photo Estimate £ 200-250 Note: The first section of this line (Melbourne to Kyneton) was opened on 25 April 1862 and Kyneton to Sandhurst (renamed Bendigo) on 21 October 1862. Very little is known regarding TPO 14 and the date of introduction is uncertain
