St. Helena The Boer War Mail from Erich Mayer, famous Artist 1902 (21 Oct.) 1d. card (stained) from Mayer to the Postmaster at Vrede requesting him to forward on any mail to his future address in Germany, cancelled with c.d.s. and written at a time when Mayer was one of 90 Boer prisoners who volunteered to stay behind to clear the Camp sites after the repatriation of the P.O.W.´s who had left the island in late October, the only such item of mail recorded by the owner; accompanied by a pencil sketch of a Deadwood Camp hut on tracing paper (210x168mm.) signed by Mayer and affixed to piece of board from a scrap book with portions of three incoming fronts on reverse, and a copy of "Erich Mayer of St. Helena" by Vol Van Hartepyn Estimate £ 200-250
