Pre-Stamp Essays Later Essays 1840-41, Charles F. Whiting: Type D essay, embossed head on a pale green background with "penny/post" at sides, affixed to a square of paper which in turn is on a folded sheet, inscription on the inside reads, "At One Shilling a Quire of 24 sheets or One Halfpenny per Sheet"; two light folding creases. Fine and rare, only three examples recorded Estimate £ 4,000-5,000 Note: There is some uncertainty who was the originator of this essay, Charles Whiting or Robert Sievier. It is quite probable that this was a result of a combination of Whiting´s embossing and Sievier´s ink
