x New Zealand 1844 (3 Feb.) "Duplicate" entire letter from Wellington to Lincoln´s Inn showing a good strike of "wellington/fe*3/new zealand" oval d.s. in black with straight-line "ship letter" in red and London arrival c.d.s. (obscured), rated "4" changed to "8". Interesting contents giving a poor account of the Governor, Capt. Fitzroy as "... a Tartar" outraged by his opening speech, "I will have unqualified submission, absolute authority! The Maories shall be maintained in all their acts; and if you write against me in the papers I will set the Attorney General upon you!". Also three further entires from the same correspondence between 1841 and 1843 (one with indistinct Wellington dated oval) to London, one redirected to Carlisle; some light soiling though an interesting group Estimate £ 800-1,000 x PLEASE NOTE THAT VAT AT 5% IS APPLICABLE ON THE HAMMER PRICE.
