Assignment and Transfer of an Exchequer Order, dated 1 July 1716signed by John Aislabie at lower right, reverse annotated ´Bank 975´, a reference to this order being from the Bank of England, its priority of payment being 975. Sir John Aislabie (1670-1742), was a Treasurer of the Navy 1714-1718, when he signed this order and was imprisoned in the Tower of London for his involvement in the financial scandal of the South Sea Bubble.
