Royal National Lifeboat Institution Medal, silver, type 2 1862-1903, obverse: head of Queen Victoria with chaple of oak leaves facing left (Mr. Ralph Thompson. Voted 12th. March 1891.), engraved in mixed styles, with uniface ´dolphin´ suspension, extremely fine Estimate £ 400-500 Ralph Thompson, Coxswain, Sunderland Lifeboat, citation reads: ´In acknowledgement of his services as Coxswain for twenty-six years, in which period the boat saved twenty-three lives.´ Prominent services in this period included those to the steamer Altona in 1875 and the schooner Langdale in 1886.
