Charles I, uniface silver memorial plaque by Norbert Roettiers, c.1702, 95 mm. x 76 mm., armoured, draped bust of Charles I right, carolus. d:g: mag: brit: fra: et: hib: ex. gloria. memo: obit ia 30 1648 aetat.49 (MI I, 347, 202), mounted in an oval dark wooden frame, some light scratches, extremely fine Estimate £ 700-900 Struck on a very thin piece of silver, this plaque was probably intended to be framed or inlaid into a piece of furniture. It is one of a series featuring British monarchs from Charles I to William III and dates from the start of the reign of Anne.
