Bermuda 1880 Watermark Crown CC Covers 1892 (24 Nov.) envelope registered per "Orinoco" to Halifax, Nova Scotia, bearing 1/2d. stone strips of six and three, all tied by Hamilton "1" duplex in black and showing, on reverse, New York (5.12), St. John N.B. (7.12) and arrival (8.12) datestamps. A scarce franking. Photo Estimate £ 600-800 Note: The "Orinoco" sailed from Hamilton on 24 November and got into difficulties in the Staggs Channel. She was towed to a safe anchorage for a few days and was then towed by the S.S. "Caribbee" to New York for repairs. The S.S. "Clandeboye", bound from Bilbao to Philadelphia, took the "Orinoco" bags of mail and sailed on 29 November. provenance: Morris Ludington, June 1999
