x Great Britain 1841-53 One Penny Red-Brown Postal Fraud 1843 (25 Apr.) entire letter from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway bearing the diagonal halves of two 1d. (F-, -A) used to defraud the Post Office, the ´adhesive´ cancelled by "498" numeral of Manchester, addressed to London with despatch and arrival c.d.s. on flap which opens well for display. A very good colour match of the two halves which probably accounts for the success of this fraud. Very unusual to find such practice carried out on commercial mail. A spectacular cover. R.P.S.
