x Ship Letter Handstamps Scotland Grangemouth 1861 (30 Aug.) envelope (opened-out for display) to Glasgow, bearing 1d. red (2) tied by Falkirk "139" duplex, showing manuscript "6" (double ship letter rate), framed "ship letter" (Type S.3) alongside and, on reverse, Grangemouth and Glasgow datestamps dated 30 August. Scarce. Photo Estimate £ 300-400 Note: At this date Grangemouth was a sub-office of Falkirk. This handstamp is thought to have been applied to mail brought by fishing boats from Scandinavia.
