x Ship Letter Handstamps England Ryde 1841 (5 Nov.) entire letter from Macao to Liverpool, rated "8", showing superb unframed "ryde/india letter" (Type In.5) with Ryde datestamp (26.3) on reverse. The lengthy letter contains an account of military activities during the Opium War including "...it appears that Chusan was re-taken about the beginning of last month, and Chin-Hae about the middle of it after which the important city of Ningpo was entered and taken possession of on the 14th.".
