Great Britain Postal History 1573 (13 Feb.) entire letter from Exeter to London, written by Thomasso Baldisare to Felipo Corsini, endorsed "VI" in red and "for carreyes vid"; fine. Attractive and exceptionally rare. The earliest known English letter with a 6d. rate marking, the third earliest known with any rate marking. and the earliest known letter from Exeter Photo Estimate £ 1,800-2,000 Note: Baldisare di Mafio was employed by the Corsinis; he was working with the Admiralty Marshal Peppit, trying to recover stolen goods.
