x Three: Private M.E. Moss [M.M.], Australian Imperial Force 1914-15 Star (2516 Pte. M.E. Moss. 1/Bn. A.I.F.); British War and Victory Medals (2516 Pte. M.E. Moss. 1 Bn. A.I.F.), good very fine, with the recipient´s identity tag (3) Estimate £ 200-250 M.M. London Gazette 1.1.1918 No. 2516 Moss, Spr., M.E., 14th Field Coy. A.E. The Recommendation states: ´For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Each day between 16th October 1917 and 21st October 1917 inclusive he guided parties carrying Royal Engineer stores through a heavily shelled area of Ypres and north west of Polygon Wood. Although his parties had casualties (for instance on the 21st October 10 men wounded) he always succeeded in getting through the shelling and delivering his stores to the proper destination. His bravery and coolness under shell fire were most marked.´ 2516 Private Marcus Ephraim Moss, M.M., enlisted in the 1st Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, 17.4.1915; served in Gallipoli; transferred to the 14th Field Company, Australian Engineers, and served on the Western Front (awarded Military Medal); discharged 21.3.1919.
