The third sale of coins from the Williams collection will take place in London on Wednesday 26 September. The sale contains 100 Norman coins, from the Conquest to the end of the reign of Stephen. The coins have all been selected for their quality and rarity. For example, among the rare mints, there is a William I PAXS Penny of Abergavenny, a William II profile Penny of Tamworth, a Henry I Profile Penny from Chichester, and a Stephen profile Penny from Castle Rising. As well as the regular coinages of the four Norman kings there is a good selection of irregular local coinages of the Civil War under Stephen, known as The Anarchy, as well as issues of the Angevin Party of the empress Matilda and her supporters. To end the sale, there are three rare Pennies of David I of Scotland.
