Spink is delighted to have rounded off our year of stamp sales with such a successful auction. Today over 1300 lots of Great Britain Stamps and Postal History went under the hammer in London, from perforated issues and important blocks to fascinating forgeries and rare errors.
 

Especially popular was the Great Britain 1867-80 2/- brown, QK-QL, imperforate horizontal pair, lot 796, which sold for sold for £22,800.

Other highlights include Lot 502, a famous cover and a unique usage of the 1840 Two Pence Blue, on an entire letter from Funchal, Madeira, dated 1840. It is addressed to Devonshire and cancelled by a Deal Ship Letter postmark. Today at Spink it went for an impressive £19,200.

Among the highlights of the latter part of the sale was Lot 1169, an extremely rare Office of Works - 10d. dull purple and carmine, large part original gum, which fetched £18,000.
