1853 (10 Jan.) notification letter (205x320mm) to Mr. James Norman Hodgson to be appointed as a clerk in the General Dept. of the General Post office on the recommendation of Captain Lowther MP...in the sum of Two Hundred Pounds, for the due and faithful discharge of your duty. Signed in ink by Maberly. Some usual minor faults including archival folds, nevertheless a scarce document bearing the Maberly signature.
