In Aid of the Fukushima Earthquake Victims, Spink Supports Chateau le Puy Charity Auction Apr 09 2014

Spink is delighted to work alongside the Amoreau family, owners of Château le Puy and the producers of excellent Bordeaux for over 400 years, in producing a bilingual sale catalogue to accompany the charity auction in aid of those affected by the Fukushima earthquake in 2011.

Olivier Stocker, Group Chairman and CEO of Spink, commented; "We collectively have a duty…to remember a tragedy and honour the magnificent effort of the communities to rebuild themselves. We have seldom been a part of a more worthy cause."

The generosity of the Amoreau family cannot be underestimated. Three years after the disaster their commitment to supporting those affected by this devastating natural disaster remains as heartfelt as ever. For this unprecedented auction, the family are personally donating 30 bottles of the much-celebrated Château le Puy Emilien 2003 from their private collection. Because of its rarity, this is the only and last time a donation on this scale can possibly be made.

Supported by His Excellency Mr Christian Masset, French Ambassador to Japan, the dinner and auction will be held at the residence of the French Ambassador in Tokyo. Distinguished guests will include Her Imperial Highness The Princess Takamado and Tadashi Agi, author of The New York Times' best-selling Japanese Manga series, "Drops of God", who will autograph the 2003 vintage heralded as the 'best wine in the world'.

The 120 guests will enjoy a sumptuous seven-course dinner prepared by 3 Michelin-starred chef, Guy Savoy from Paris, alongside celebrity chef, Kiyomi Mikuni, famed for his fine French restaurant in Tokyo. The 21 lots on offer during this extravaganza, include a limited edition Royal Oak Offshore "Ginza 7" watch, donated by Audemars Piguet. This is the first and only remaining timepiece of the original 200 created to raise funds for supporting the  victims of this devastating tragedy. The Amoreau family have elevated the status of this lot by adding a magnum of Château le Puy, vintage 1977 to the highest bidder.

Spink's venture into the Japanese market is part of an on-going global strategy to broaden its remit to include fine wines, alongside its existing presence in the collectibles markets. It has been retained by the Amoreau family for its expertise in creating a sales catalogue that reflects the exclusivity and credibility of this event.
