SPINK LONDON | Spink are very
excited to announce that this coming February will see a philatelic
auction abounding in rarities and errors, but make no mistake, this
sale is going to be one to remember. The Drs. Joanne and Edward
Dauer Collection of Australian States and Commonwealth will take
place on the 23rd February 2016 in Spink's London
auction room. The rarity of this opportunity is surpassed only by
the rarities contained within the sale.
Australia is home to some of the
most singular species on the planet, not to push the comparison too
far, but within this sale stand two of Australia's finest
philatelic rarities. Two errors, both alike in dignity, are
expected to excite and delight this February. One is lot 104 from
Western Australia, an 1864-69 CC 2d. mauve error bearing the
traditional swan motif.
Lot 104, estimated: £7,000 -
The second distinguished error is
lot 89, an 1885-95 Naish, 4d lilac error. Not only is it very rare,
it is also one of only nine unused examples known, including a
horizontal and a vertical pair.
Lt 89, estimated: £2,500 - 3,000
Spink look forward to seeing faces
old and new at what is certainly going to be a spectacular event
and a fitting reflection of such a comprehensive collection built
on years of hard work and dedication.
