Singapore: 1858 (4 Apr.) commercial entire letter to Augustine Heard "p Str 'Pekin'" bearing India 1855 4a. black on bluish (defect at right) cancelled by a light strike of the Singapore "B/172" in octagon with a neat "4d" rate mark in red crayon alongside and boxed "india paid" in red, the reverse with Singapore despatch and Hong Kong transit (12.4). There is a light horizontal fold and some faint tone spotting. A good cover. Photo

The contents include mention of the 'Pekin' in Singapore and, "... without the European mail, the steamer from Suez not having arrived at Galle owing probably to some derangement consequence on the loos of the Ava"
