1873 (28 Apr.) front of a large letter to Paris, marked "voie anglais", bearing Laureated 1871-72 80c. rose block of nineteen (rows of nine and ten) plus Ceres 1871-76 5c. and 15c. making an astonishing franking of 15f. 40, paying, as denoted in manuscript at top left, 22 times the single rate via British packet, and weighing 220 grams, all cancelled by "mqe" dotted lozenges with St. Pierre c.d.s. below; the block with margins practically all round, several creases and some faults as might be expected. Illustrated on page 200 of "Les Colonies Françaises-Tarifs et Service Postal-Les Colonies d'Amerique" by Michèle Chauvet. The largest known used multiple of the Laureated 80c. and the largest franking recorded in Martinique, considered as the most important franking of Martinique philately. Maury 10, 17, 22. Photo
