1865 (26 Oct.) entire letter from St. Pierre to Havre, properly paying the single rate via British maritime carriage with 10c. strip of three showing the cliché disposed sideways at left, cut slightly into at lower right and not affecting the variety with its neighbouring stamp, with mainly large margins in other respects, and 40c. cut into at top, tied by "mqe" lozenges with matching c.d.s. at right on despatch, showing framed "pd" and Calais entry c.d.s. in red alongside, receiving c.d.s. on reverse. Minor tone spots not affecting the franking. A very rare cover exhibiting the major variety of the "Eagle" Issues. Maury 3a. Photo
