First Issue of France used in Martinique
1852 (13 Dec.) envelope from St. Pierre to Ange, carried at single rate per 7.5 grams via British packet to France with 1849-50 25c. pair, just touching the frame line at top left corner, otherwise ample margins, and 1fr. with large margins except for being cut slightly into at top, tied by "grille sans fin" roller cancel, showing framed red "pd" alongside, backstamps including c.d.s. of St. Pierre, Paris and Agen; endorsed "P. Steamer" and embarked on the R.S.M.P. "Medway" to Southampton. Fine and very scarce. Signed J.F. Brun. Maury 4, 6. Photo
