Stamps and Covers of the World 14 – 15 December 2004

This sale contains over 1600 lots and commences with an attractive selection of Great Britain. Though smaller than normal, collectors of this area can look forward to two sales in March, including the Marcus Samuel Collection of Revenue stamps.

The sale then continues with British Empire which includes sections of Australia; Burma with fine Indian Post Office period covers; Cape of Good Hope with “Woodblock” errors of colour; India with an outstanding 1852 cover from Vera Jendra Bahadur to Queen Victoria in which he offers to hand over his son to the Queen for religious education, a wonderful specialised collection relating to Mahatma Gandhi and Indian Feudatory States; Malaya and States; Malta; New Guinea with an outstanding section of the “G.R.I” overprints and varieties; New Zealand with a group of Chalon issues, modern errors and a wonderful set of the 1907 Reefton Provisionals used by the Police Department; Rhodesia with fine Double Heads and Admiral Issues, and Zanzibar.

This section is followed by Collections and Ranges with a fine group of items related to the U.P.U.

Collections and Ranges is followed by Foreign Countries including France and Colonies, Germany and States, Italian States, Netherlands and Netherland Indies, Portugal and Colonies with rare booklets, Switzerland with rare booklets, and U.S.A.
