The RAF Survey Flights
1933 Kuching - Singapore Flight
1933 (12 May) envelope flown on the return flight from Kuching to Singapore, franked at 14c., showing "by air mail" label with arrival datestamp (13.5) on reverse.; some light discolouration

Note: On 19 April three Southampton flying-boats, S1419, S1420 and S1151, flew from Seletar to inspect landing sites in Borneo. They left Kuching on 21 April, calling at Bintulu, Miri, Brunei, Kudat and arriving at Sandakan on 26 April. The return flight started the next day, following the same route, but an eight day stay at Sibu to carry out a geological survey, delayed their return to Kuching until 11 May. A small mail was carried on their return flight from Kuching to Seletar on 13 May. No extra charge was made for mail carried by the RAF after the end of 1931.
