A63 1840 (7 May) and A70 1841 (2 Sep.) from the same correspondence from the Newcastle stamp office to the Alnwick stamp office, both being acknowledgement receipts for money sent for stamp purchase, each cancelled twice, against regulation, by red Maltese Cross (27.5) or black Maltese Cross the other. The 27 May with interest content: I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your draft for Two Hundred Twenty four Pounds to your credit. With respect to the Postage Labels it has mentioned in the last consign. that none had yet been received at this Office. A couple of archive folds and usual minor imperfections not detracting the postal history importance of this duo. Photo
